Let me start this post not on my experience tonight , but one a few weeks ago that ties into my experience tonight! As alot of you know Millstone coffee had put out a money making coupon a few months back, I happen to get my hands on some right before they expired. They were $2 off ANY bagged coffee. So of course i go get some of the smallest bags which cost $1.64 each. I asked the lady @ the customer desk before i even tried to shop after some discussion they agreed it was ok. SO i get my coffee and other items and head to check out. As soon as i pay the STORE MANAGER and his asst manager come running over with THEIR coupon policy in hand saying we have to void this transaction that no where does it say WalMart will pay overage. I politely say may i see that please? I find on there where it says it and show them. "O we didn't see it" Knowing they had probably been discussing it the whole time I was shopping, but I let it go.
2 weeks after that I go into wal mart with a few money making similac coupons. I had planned to buy 5 cans for the overage and then donate them to a local church. Again the asst mngr comes over and tries to tell me I can not do that after a little discussion they allow it. Yet she is fussing and talking under her breath the whole time.
This brings us to tonight. Now In the past month I have cut down my walmart shopping b/c I hate the hassle. But I had those $2 bic coupons that would make me money and had seen on other blogs a few good deals/money makers at wal mart this week such as. . . The Heinz coupon Heinz gave us this week for $2 off ANY ( i bought the $1.60 size) The Reach floss coupons $1 off ANY (I bought 88¢ size) and of course my $2 off ANY bic disposable razor excludes trail size.
I get to check out with my things ( i have about a half a cart full) I ask the lady to give me one sec to get coupons on top the items so there would be NO problems this time as I am harnessed EVERY TIME I try to use coupons here. Now let us all keep in mind that walmart is a big company, they have very sophisticated registers that not only will BEEP when you try to use the wrong coupon but it will print a lil note stating why you can not use this coupon. Now I was unsure of the bic razor coupons even though it said NO WHERE on them that they were trail or travel size. SO I saved that for last and asked the cashier to scan one then a coupon to see if it was OK. It went thru! Which i knew it would. yet she STILL calls over the SAME asst manager who proceeds to tell me none to quietly that Walmart WILL NOT PAY ME OVERAGE and I have to BUY A MORE EXPENSIVE ONE LIKE THE PICTURE ON THE COUPON. I ask her " are you going to go by the picture or what the coupon actually says and that it rang thru. So she reads the coupon and it stated $2 off ANY Bic disposable razor excludes trail size. I tell her I looked all over the razor package and it says no where that it is trail size. I was SO upset that i have to go thru this EVERY TIME i shop there. And that every time they are RUDE to me and embarrass me like I am trying to ROB them! I DID NOT make up this coupon Policy WA MART did!! So i ask YOU WAL MART how can you have a coupon or any policy that not even the managers that RUN your stores know? All the money you make and you can not even take the time to TRAIN your OWN employees?? I am DONE with you wal mart! I have a very VERY nice publix 30 mins from me that not only doubles my coupons but takes everyone I bring in the store. and does it with a smile! I am a HONEST couponer! I never try to use a coupon for anything other than what it says!! Every coupon you are given is cash to you! You get the money back PLUS a handling fee! Wal mart needs to decide do they really want to make money or not! They have already dropped down from being #1 lowest priced and that is only the beginning if you continue to have uneducated employee's that do not know your store policy!
Alot of people accept this treatment as normal now! But I will NOT! I know what it is like to go to a store that values you being their and CHOOSING to spend your money with them! Let us all stand up to this type of treatment! It will only continue as long as WE allow it!!

I went through the same darn thing with those Heinz ketchup coupons..And guess what it was at WALMART. They really need to educate their employees and I think all registers should have a copy of their coupon policy at their register. They have no clue how hard we have to work to get these coupons and plan all this stuff. Not like we are a bunch of losers. Just working class people trying to get by in hard times.
ReplyDeleteI have been dealing with the same type of rudeness since I started couponing about 3wks. ago. The cpns I use aren't even really overage and if it is only a few pennies which goes towards my other items. I have had a manager called over EVERY time I've used cpns. The last 2 trips were it for me. I had a manager roll her eyes at me and give me NOTHING but attitude. And the last trip I walked out with NOTHING because I was soo mad and sick of the frustration. NO ONE should EVER be treated the way they are treating ppl. And the managers don't even know the policy. I was told by 1 mgr that yes I could use the cpns, and when I checked out I was told my another mgr that I could not and it turned into a BIG circus. I'm over it like alot of others.
ReplyDeleteI go to different walmarts all the time and each one is always giving me a hard time! I think it is the company all together that does not care for its customers. They are all different managers and all different cashiers yet they all tend to act in the same way. They do make you feel like you are a criminal and that you are doing something extremely wrong. Everytime I go there it is a different situation. One cashier went through every coupon I had and circled the exp date and wrote some kind of code on them. I asked her if it was something new they started doing and she was like no we all do this here. I was like ok because I coupon all the time and this is a first. Then I go a different day and they do not do this. I noticed when I go up to the register to check out the cashier jumps you asking if you have coupons. I HATE that. It is like they are trying to intemidate you so you just don't use coupons at all. I have had to write and complain many times and it doesn't change a damn thing! They say they are sorry but the attitudes of the employees get worse and worse. Everytime I go through the check out with coupons it never fails they call the same supervisor over and ask question about coupons and stupid ones to boot! I had 4 of the same internet coupon and the cashier had to check because the printer only allows so many coupons to print she said. OK is what I thought but they let me use them. I used them one per purchase so why would it be a problem. I don't know if the cashiers just hate their lives so much or jobs that they feel they have to be rude to every person that walks up with a coupon. Or maybe they are punished for not doing certain things at the register but I think it is upper upper management that needs to change and go from there. Any other store I go to I use coupons and they are happy that I do. I have never seen a store act the way walmart does. It is like they think they are better than everyone else and they are the Gods of the retail world but they need to realize they are not and they are only loosing customers. Just pulling into the parking lot makes me nervous and nausea and that is sad. I always say to my husband while walking into Walmart, lets see who we can piss off today because everytime there is an issue. It is just really sad that this store is such a wreck when it comes to customer respect. If it wasn't for us where would they be? That one supervisor sees me coming to the checkout and she waits around the area where I am because she knows she is always called over to inspect my coupons. I just don't get what kind of people run these stores. Also if you are a repeating customer who puts up with their shit all the time like I do, these cashiers remember you and know you use coupons. You think if I was using them fraudlently like they accuse me of that they would ban me from the store. They can't tell me that one of my coupons I ever used there ever had a problem because I know how to use coupons right. WALMART SUCKS AND SO DO THEIR EMPLOYEES!
ReplyDeleteOk, now I am scared to try couponing now! Walmart is the main place we shop and being a newbie, I'm not as smart on all of the couponing lingo to even be able to fight it out like all of you. We do have a CVS, Walgreens and Target here so I guess I could try those but I don't know. Is it always a fight with managers to use a coupon now a days? How frustrating and embarrassing. :(
ReplyDeleteIt is usually 99% of the time. Ever since the new coupon policy went up I have noticed that all the cashiers nit pick at everything. I have had this problem so many times I am immune to their stupidity and in the end I am always right about my coupons. They hire anyone of the street and do not care if they act trashy towards the customers or not. If you are lucky you get that one really awesome cashier that makes your day but rarely at walmart.
ReplyDeleteStacey do not be afraid just start small like @ your local CVS Also Are you SURE wal-mart is your only option? I thought so to until I realized I had a Publix 30 mins away yeah its a drive but i save OVER $100 every time I shop there so makes up for teh gas! They are SO nice and never fuss about my coupons! So look around use yellow pages.com and search grocery stores in your zip code!
ReplyDeletehey tigs u are so right i think we all hate walmart cuz of that and their employees are rude and lazy.if they have such a big deals with us and coupons they should taking it,i hope they change all that or i wont even waste my time going there anymore.target has been having good sales.
ReplyDeleteWow. I just started using coupons a few weeks ago. I haven't ventured to Walmart with them yet, mostly because I've been starting small (LOVE CVS!) and because I've haven't seen any deals that I really want in the write-ups yet ('cause I don't have a lot of the coupons from earlier inserts). I'm still nervous when I use coupons at CVS, and they are very friendly to me there. I will probably try Walmart one of these days, but I will go in prepared with all this knowledge.
ReplyDeleteI am having problems with coupons at my local grocery store. They do NOT like internet coupons AT ALL. I'll save my rant for another place, since it is not Walmart related, lol. But I think I will be shopping at another grocery store with my coupons. I'll see if they like my coupons and my business.
I find that walmart is good for only a few things and food is NOT one of them. I agree at one point walmart was cheaper to shop at but now i'm finding smaller stores like Food 4 Less are alot cheaper and they accept your coupons hassle free!! I'm doing alot more research with my weekly store circulars also. Thats probably one of the easiest and best places to start your shopping trip before you actually leave the house. The only downfall about las vegas...Its VERY hard to find a store that doubles :(
ReplyDeleteAs for Walmart the only things we are starting to puchase there are animal foods and personal hygiene.
Another thing that helps me save is having a list before hand. making sure you have coupons, even if its .35cents off, for your items. The list helps alot more than going in blind.
